Here Are The Spiciest Peppers In The World

There’s nothing like good spicy food, and the best way to get it is to take a bite of the hottest peppers out there!  If you’re ready for a hot and fresh change: you’re not alone.

The hottest peppers in the world are man-made over dozens of years of work.  Here are the top seven!

Carolina Reaper

Crowned the hottest peppers again in 2022, the Carolina Reaper simply can’t be beaten!  At 2,200,000 Scoville, this is an incredibly hot pepper.  Not only should you be careful eating it: but even touching it without gloves can cause damage.  The oils are known to get easily absorbed by the skin and cause a lot of damage if you’re not careful.

Trinidad Moruga Scorpion

Not far behind the Carolina Reaper, the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion is a hot one!  A newer flavor that’s incredibly popular for pepper jelly, the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion is a gorgeous little pepper that packs a giant punch.  If you decide to try one of these, rumors are you’ll have to chase it with a lot of sugar to kill the heat.

7 Pot Douglah

This pepper has become a fan favorite, despite its over 1,853,936 Scoville rating!  The heat in the 7 Pot Douglah is blindingly hot, leaving those who try it to feel like they’ve chewed on a bomb.  Although it had a lot of heat, it’s still a fantastic addition to any chili or spicy dish you really want to pack a punch with.

7 Pot Primo

Almost neck to neck with the 7 Pot Douglah, the 7 Pot Primo is another popular pepper that’s come out in recent years.  It was initially advertised as a strong adversary to the Carolina Reaper, but the fact that it ranks over 600,000 Scoville lower means it’s far easier to deal with!

Trinidad Scorpion

This scorpion stings!  The Trinidad Scorpion is an incredibly hot pepper, but it’s almost half the Scoville of a Carolina Reaper.  Don’t let this lower rating fool you: if you bit directly into one of these, you’d regret it for days.  Not only is this one known for its heat, but many say they suffer heartburn for a while after eating it.

Naga Viper

This tasty pepper is far better to cook with than any of the earlier ones since it doesn’t have as much power: but the Naga Viper is still dangerous.  Named literally ‘ghost snake,’ this is a dangerous pepper that’s as delicious as it’s hot.

Ghost Pepper

The ghost pepper is most people’s first introduction to hot peppers, and for a good reason!  This was the most popular and hottest pepper in the late 90s and has gained a lot of international fame for its heat.  Although its heat isn’t as scary anymore, it’s a pepper that’s been around for hundreds of years and continues to bring the heat.

If You Want Heat: It’s Out There!

These peppers know how to make any dish dangerous!  Consider taking a bite of one soon: if you dare.
